Nestlé has launched its latest coffee innovation, a new range of soluble coffee that can be used for both hot and cold consumption. Launched under Nescafé Classic, the range comes in two different natural flavours: caramel and hazelnut.

Thanks to their innovation expertise, Nestle’s coffee experts were able to develop a new soluble coffee that dissolves perfectly when used either with hot or cold water. The products are currently available in Central and Eastern Europe.

Damien Tissot, head of Nestlé R&D for coffee, says: “We’re excited to introduce our new range of versatile flavoured Nescafé soluble coffee, which are perfect for both hot and iced coffee beverages. By pairing natural flavours with a smooth coffee base, we can also enable coffee drinkers to enjoy new coffee tastes and flavours while maintaining the same iconic quality”.

This versatility enables coffee lovers to use the same product to make their preferred beverage, whether it’s a classic hot cup or a refreshing iced drink. Consumers can enjoy the coffee as is or add milk or their favourite dairy alternative for an even smoother cup. Additionally, the products contain subtle notes of natural flavourings without any added sugar.

Axel Touzet, head of Nestlé’s coffee strategic business unit, says: “Both cold and flavoured coffee are currently trending with younger consumers. This launch is another step forward in our efforts to deliver coffee innovations that resonate with the next generation of coffee drinkers.”

Nestlé continues to deliver exciting innovations for its Nescafé brand. Earlier this year, the company launched Nescafé Espresso Concentrate, enabling consumers to create their favourite barista-style iced coffees at home in a convenient and simple way. In 2023, Nescafé started its cold coffee journey by introducing Nescafé Ice Roast, its first ever soluble coffee designed to be enjoyed with cold water, cold milk or over ice.

Birchall Tea’s partnership with Tusk sees the introduction of its latest tea blend, ‘Serengeti’, with a contribution of 5p from each pack being allocated to Tusk.

This initiative underscores Birchall Tea’s commitment to sustainable and ethical practices while supporting Tusk’s vital African wildlife conservation efforts.

Birchall’s master blenders have discovered rare Tanzanian teas to bring this rich tasting breakfast tea to life. Inspired by the vibrant wildlife of the Serengeti, the new blend has a bold, refreshing taste that will make any morning come alive.

All of Birchall’s award winning black teas are sourced from East Africa, since this is where the very best teas are found. The high altitude, lush volcanic soil and heavy rainfall of this equatorial area combine to create the perfect set of conditions for producing tea of unparalleled flavour.

Daniel Graham, managing director of Birchall Tea says he and the team are delighted to be launching Birchall Serengeti this year.

With the partnership with Tusk in its infancy, he says the tea business is proud to collaborate on a new product together.

“This will raise awareness and generate funding to protect endangered wildlife in Africa,”Graham explains. “This is also the first tea in the UK to contain these rare Tanzanian teas.”

This collaboration aims to raise significant funds to aid Tusk’s mission to help increase awareness, funding and wider support for Tusk conservation partners’ efforts across Africa.

Birchall’s black teas are sourced exclusively from East Africa, where we have supported good causes to help communities and wildlife for over a decade.

Birchall Tea’s donations will directly contribute to Tusk’s efforts to protect endangered species, conserve habitat, enhance biodiversity, promote human-wildlife coexistence and deliver environmental education.

The ‘Art of Tea’ at Mariage Frères https://www.teaandcoffee.net/blog/34489/the-art-of-tea-at-mariage-freres/ https://www.teaandcoffee.net/blog/34489/the-art-of-tea-at-mariage-freres/#respond Thu, 20 Jun 2024 13:24:12 +0000 https://www.teaandcoffee.net/?post_type=blog&p=34489 In celebration of its 170-year anniversary, Mariage Frères launched new products and opened its doors in Covent Garden, where I was able to learn more about the Parisian tea house.

The post The ‘Art of Tea’ at Mariage Frères appeared first on Tea & Coffee Trade Journal.

]]>
The luxury tea purveyor and tearooms, Mariage Frères, is celebrating the 170-year anniversary of its founding. In honour of this milestone, I was invited to its Covent Garden, London, tearoom for the launch of its celebratory tea blend, ‘Birthday in Love,’ as well as its summer menu, which included an iced tea named ‘Paris in Love’.

France’s oldest tea house, Mariage Frères, opened its first maison de thé in Paris in 1854, building on the family tradition of tea importing and trading since 1660. Then, in 1984, Mariage Frères opened to the retail trade, and continued to open further locations across Paris, Japan, London and Germany.

The Covent Garden location I visited opened in 2018, after the success of its Selfridges boutique in 2012. It is a beautiful building set over two floors for the public, consisting of a ground floor tea shop, with displays of patisseries to take away, as well as their myriad teas, and exquisite tea paraphernalia. There is also a floor above containing the tearoom, where visitors could sit and enjoy its edible offerings, accompanied of course by a vast selection of Mariage Frères teas, overlooking the shop floor below, or out onto the busy street at the front.

Out on display, front and centre, was Mariage Frères anniversary blend, ‘Birthday in Love’, which is a handpicked Darjeeling, with additions of bergamot, rose petals and jasmine, which comes in a red, pink and gold box of 30 individual tea muslins. And, as part of their summer launches, there was also the newest addition to the Mariage Frères iced tea portfolio, many of which are themed to specific locations or cities, and so it was apt timing for the Parisian tea company to launch ‘Paris Summer.’ Housed in a large jar, the loose-leaf tea is designed to be cold brewed, and consists of green tea with yuzu, mint, green bergamot and rose petals. Also in the summer launches, were the tea infused and inspired patisseries, such as the ‘Bon Anniversaire’ cream cake and ‘Tea Ice-Cream Sandwich’, both flavoured with the ‘Paris Summer’ tea.

In between sampling the new offerings, I spoke to Mariage Frères’ Covent Garden store manager, Benjamin Biget, about the launches and the company’s ethos. He emphasised that quality is everything, and they are entirely immovable on that fact. They negotiate directly with farmers, not just to ensure a fair price, but also to ensure the highest standard of quality, including that they are organic. If an ingredient used in one of their teas or blends is no longer available at the high standard Mariage Frères requires, then the product it is used in will just be no longer available for however long it takes, explained Biget. Mariage Frères won’t compromise by subbing in an inferior ingredient just to keep the product line available for customers. This is especially essential since many are very often ‘made to measure’ exclusively for Mariage Frères. All Mariage Frères teas and infusions are rigorously tested for compliance to strict standards of quality and organic practices, and the Mariage Frères ‘Jardin Premier’ stamp, certifies that they meet the standard. Biget added that, while this is a very expensive process for the company, it is non-negotiable.

This sense of fastidiousness and tradition is part of the fabric of Mariage Frères, said Biget, and transparency is everything. Little has changed in the company since it first opened its doors to the public, yet it continues as a steadfast brand associated with French elegance. Mariage Frères achieves this, explained Biget, by staying in its own “bubble,” not looking at what competitors are doing, only focusing on themselves and staying true to its purpose and way of doing things.

Most of the news we receive at Tea & Coffee Trade Journal can be rather coffee-oriented, and I think that is because tea is so much more steeped in tradition, as evidenced by Mariage Frères and its “bubble.” The tea world seems to want to do things the way it has always done them, and doesn’t feel the need to be constantly reinventing itself the way coffee sometimes does. This mentality clearly works, with tea being the most consumed beverage in the world, second only to water, beating its coffee counterpart. Tea is associated with tradition and propriety; you only have to look at the huge popularity of afternoon tea services that places such as Mariage Frères and many prestigious London hotels provide. There is an appetite for the experience as well as the tea, and this is something that Mariage Frères felt acutely aware of on my visit. Something I will continue to ponder, over the ‘Paris Summer’ iced tea I took home with me!

As they prepare to embark on a global stadium tour in support of their new album Saviors, global rock superstars, Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool – announced the launch of Punk Bunny Coffee. The new brand builds on the core values of the Oakland Coffee brand, established a decade ago, to provide carefully curated organic, Fair Trade Certified coffee with an emphasis on sustainability and community. Punk Bunny Coffee by Green Day is available at punkbunnycoffee.com and keurig.com.

Punk Bunny Coffee also announced a new partnership with Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) to join the Keurig K-Cup Pod System, making Punk Bunny Coffee available to more than 40 million US households with a Keurig brewer. As part of the band and KDP’s shared commitment to sustainability, Punk Bunny K-Cup pods will be the first to launch the full flavor portfolio – Father of All…Dark Roasts, Soundcheck, Last Ride In and Light Club – with easy-peel lids to prepare pods for recycling.

Mike Dirnt explained, “For years, our band has been immersed in making damn good organic coffees with a strong focus on sustainability. Now in our tenth year, we are launching our new brand, Punk Bunny Coffee, and are proud to announce that we have been working closely in partnership with Keurig and support their sustainability innovations. Get ready to get ‘Hopped up on Punk Bunny Coffee.’”

“Green Day brings the same legendary passion they bring to their music to their work creating distinctive Fair Trade Certified coffee built on community from source to cup,” said Ben Yoder, vice president of Coffee Partners, Keurig Dr Pepper. “With the launch of Punk Bunny Coffee in recyclable K-Cup pods, fans will have more ways to connect with their musical heroes through a great cup of coffee, brewed at the push of a button. Plus, Punk Bunny Coffee in your Keurig brewer is a far better option than ‘409 in your coffeemaker’.”

In 2023, the band decided to create a new coffee brand that would take things to the next level. Bringing Adam Devine, Rachael Ray and other friends as investors, they tapped consumer packaging goods experts Richard and Paul Smucker Wagstaff as investors, advisors and board members. In the fall of 2023, the guys landed on their iconic Bunny as the face of the brand and Punk Bunny Coffee was born. Oakland Coffee products were manufactured by a third-party Bay Area-based roaster, but Mike, Billie Joe, and Tre wanted to have more control over their roasts. After a search spearheaded by Embassy Park Advisors, Oakland Coffee merged with Caruso Foods, an Ohio-based premier specialty family-run coffee roaster.

Billie Joe Armstrong said, “I’m stoked to be an owner of a very cool specialty coffee roasting company here in the US. And grateful for our co-owners and the amazing people who help us blend badass coffee, just how we like it. It’s going to be a big year for Green Day. We’ll be playing shows across the globe and Punk Bunny coffee will be fueling the way, backstage and on our busses.”

Paul Smucker Wagstaff, former president of Smucker and 5th Generation Smucker family member said, “The combination of our CPG Food expertise, the Caruso platform and Green Day’s ability to promote products and make connections in the entertainment industry has the company positioned to grow meaningfully over the next several years. We expect to pursue joint ventures and acquisitions as we venture into new product categories. We believe by bringing incredible fair trade organic coffee and the connectivity of the music industry we can be the coffee for music lovers everywhere.”

Dominic Caruso, CEO of Caruso Foods, noted, “We worked closely with the band to develop blends of Fair Trade Certified Organic Arabica beans roasted to four distinct roast profiles. The four blends are available in 12-oz. ground valve bags with the darkest item also available whole bean. The band and the Caruso’s share a common set of core values focused on hard work, a love of family and great coffee. We fully expect this brand to become the rock star of the coffee section in retailers across the country and beyond.”

Green Day and Punk Bunny’s Fueled by Love Initiative will take a portion of profits from every bag or pod of Punk Bunny Coffee sold and distribute it equally to this year’s charity partners: One Tree Planted, Oceana, Keep Memory Alive, Eat. Learn. Play, and the Ron Finley Project. Earlier this year, Punk Bunny Coffee was introduced to attendees of The GRAMMY Awards® and the EA Superbowl event and was made available for pre-order to Green Day and Oakland Coffee fans.

818 Tequila, Kendall Jenner’s premium tequila brand, and Chamberlain Coffee, Emma Chamberlain’s coffee lifestyle brand, have teamed up to settle the espresso martini debate, once and for all: tequila really is the best spirit for this popular cocktail. To create the best version of this cocktail, 818 Tequila and Chamberlain Coffee created limited-edition Candied Pecan cold brew singles — with notes of maple and candied pecan — inspired by the flavors of 818 Tequila Reposado. They are also debuting a limited-edition 818 espresso martini bundle on Chamberlain Coffee’s website.

Now, cocktail lovers don’t need an espresso maker: they can simply mix the maple pecan cold brew with the tequila. Consumers will also get the chance to experience the festive cocktail for themselves at select restaurants in New York and Los Angeles.

Fans can purchase the Espresso Martini Kit Bundle (US$72) which features the cold brew singles, a cocktail shaker, and a martini glass on Chamberlain Coffee’s website. Consumers can also purchase bundle items individually, including the Chamberlain Coffee and 818 Candied Pecan cold brew singles ($16), cobranded cocktail shakers ($28), martini glasses ($25), and limited-edition baby tees ($55). The Candied Pecan cold brew singles and 818 Tequila Reposado are also available for purchase on Gopuff in participating US cities.

The 818 Tequila x Chamberlain Coffee Espresso Martini will be featured on menus across select restaurants in New York and Los Angeles including LAVO Los Angeles, Belles Beach House, Elephante, Little Ruby’s, Dudley’s, Happiest Hour and more, from 24-28 April.

“Working with Kendall and 818 on this was such a blast. The whole thing came together naturally because we adore each other and adore espresso martinis with tequila. We played around and ended up creating a unique take on an espresso martini that we know people will love. The Chamberlain Coffee Candied Pecan Cold Brew Singles with the 818 Tequila Reposado flavors is nutty and sweet and perfect. I am so excited for people to try it,” said Chamberlain Coffee founder, creative director and investor Emma Chamberlain.

“I’m so happy that 818 is collaborating with Chamberlain, Emma and I have been wanting our brands to do something fun together,” said Kendall Jenner, Founder of 818 Tequila. “We’re not only creating something delicious together — we’re settling the debate, once and for all, that espresso martinis taste best when they’re made with tequila.”

In celebration of UK National Tea Day 2024, The Tea Group has launched a new collection of women-inspired teas designed especially for luxury hospitality brands, leading with a British-grown blend from the island of Jersey.

In partnership with eight female tea entrepreneurs from across the globe, The Tea Group is launching The Ladies Tea Collection this National Tea Day (21 April) which has been curated to give back to the women working in the tea industry around the world.

This collection of brand-new teas will be showcased to represent some of the most prestigious hotel brands at the Jersey Fine Tea plantation. Hoteliers and luxury hospitality operators such as the Four Seasons, One&Only, Le Dam De Pic, The Landmark and Searcys will have the opportunity to put the spotlight on their establishments by harvesting the tea themselves and indulging in sampling it first before they introduce it to their guests.

Proud to have created the world’s first network dedicated and committed to helping women working in the tea industry, Managing Director of The Tea Group Díaz Ayub said: “We are delighted to be announcing the launch of our simply beautiful Ladies Tea Collection to mark this year’s National Tea Day on 21 April. The collection is a true labour of love, bringing together a selection of the most delicious and delicate blends of tea from across the world – all imagined and brought to our tea cups by astoundingly talented women in the tea industry.

“The event on the island of Jersey, kindly hosted by Visit Jersey and one of our featured Ladies Tea Collection brands, Jersey Fine Tea, is an opportunity for the luxury hospitality sector to be the first to enjoy and experience this stunning collection.

“We want to put the spotlight on tea in a way that brings the versatility, playfulness and experiential nature of the drink to life for those who enjoy it most – and that is female drinkers. Our research shows that the majority of tea drinkers and tea employees are female, which is why our new collection is centered on the female tea experience.”

The collection features brand new blends of tea from eight inspirational women tea leaders across the world, including:

 • Sakura Green Tea – a vibrant and creamy blend by Saeri of Chill Tea Tokyo
 • Premium Black Tea – a rich and malty flavour from Jess of Jersey Fine Tea
 • China Green Tea – a refreshing and smooth oolong from Maria of New World Tea
 • A brand new Elegant Earl Grey Tea – a rich and robust flavour from Darcey of Darcey’s Tea Co
 • Dawn Tea – a sweet and rich blend by Kate Moss’s Cosmoss
 • Opus Raw Pu Er Tea – an elegant and robust brew from Carole of Teaspec
 • Organic Turmeric Chai – a spicy and fragrant tea from Vishaka of Tea People
 • Dubai Chai – a spicy and robust blend from Noreen of Tribe Tea

Developing the focus on the new collection, Díaz Ayub – who launched The Tea Group and National Tea Day in 2015 in order to recalibrate the perception of tea as a drink not just of necessity and routine, but also of pleasure, ceremony and refinement – said he was excited to also launch a series of events in the UK.

Díaz Ayub added: “After our trip to Jersey, we look forward to launching a very special new event in London. We’ve crafted a ‘7 Chakra Teatime Experience,’ launching at The Mandrake Hotel, which will include a tea pairing of seven courses, all designed to stimulate each of the seven chakras through colour and the functionality of the food and featuring teas from five ladies from around the world.”

The Ladies Tea Collection has been created to give back to women working in tea plantations, tea businesses and tea cultures. Women constitute 65% of the world’s tea consumption, and it is women who are largely responsible for the careful planting, delicate picking, processing and packaging of tea.

50% of all profits from the Ladies Tea Collection will be collated and donated to enhance education, health-care and sanitary services for women in tea, the world over. The Tea Group is in the process of creating The Ladies Tea Foundation, which will continue to give back to these women in tea. Next year, to mark National Tea Day 2025, the organisation will announce how much has been raised from the Ladies Tea Collection and how the funds have been donated.

Díaz Ayub added: “Our new selection of teas has been curated in direct response to the survey of more than 2,000 people we conducted last year, which revealed that the traditional English Breakfast tea was fast becoming a second or third choice since 2019 when it accounted for 85% of sales in 2019 according to a Unilever report. In 2024, tea lovers are opting for new wellness and mindful-centered teas amongst an ever-growing selection of delectable teas.

“The teas in the Ladies Tea Collection, from Kate, Carole, Vishaka, Noreen, Maria, Jess, Saeri and Darcey are an eclectic mix, speaking to all preferences, moods and tastes. We can’t wait to hear how our customers and followers enjoy sampling and pairing these gorgeous teas and to see the impact of the Ladies Tea Collection on the women behind the magic of these beautiful flavours, who work and live in the tea-growing communities.”

The Ladies Tea Collection will be officially launched on National Tea Day 2024. Available to purchase online at The Tea Shop and served in luxury retailers and hotels around the world.

The Brooklyn Roasting Company, a New York roasting company, has announced a new partnership with Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) with the launch of two super-premium coffee blends available in K-Cup pods for the first time, including the best-selling Java Mocha blend and the all-new Coney Island Blend.

The Brooklyn Roasting Company, founded in 2009 to revive Brooklyn’s once legendary coffee roasting tradition, has built a reputation for sourcing its coffees responsibly and roasting to exact artisanal specifications. Together with Keurig’s dedicated Q-graders and coffee experts, the teams captured the chocolatey flavours and floral notes of the Java Mocha blend for the K-Cup pod format and developed the new dark roast, Coney Island Blend, with hearty coffee beans from Africa and South America, optimised for dairy and plant-based milk.

The Brooklyn Roasting Company founder Jim Munson said, “Our commitment to being serious not snobby, practical not pretentious, and accessible not exclusive is reflected in everything we do, including making our delicious coffees available to as many consumers as possible. We are so excited to work with an industry leader like Keurig to bring these carefully crafted blends to households and offices across North America. A great cup of coffee is a connector – whether it be the first cup at home with family or a second cup catching up with colleagues back at the office. This partnership with Keurig is a great step on our joint journey of creating coffee excellence and accessibility.”

“At Keurig, we value our ability to introduce premium, locally loved coffeehouse brands like The Brooklyn Roasting Company to a wider audience,” said Ben Yoder, Keurig’s vice president of coffee partners. “We are committed to providing new and innovative ways for coffee lovers and brand fans to discover their favorite blends in a format that suits their needs and at the push of a button.”

The Brooklyn Roasting Company K-Cup pods are available now at Keurig.com in convenient 10-pack cartons (MSRP USD$12.99).

South London, UK -based, MOMO Kombucha, has launched its collaborative Hops Kombucha (RRP £4.50 per 330ml glass bottle; 6 pack: £26.50; 12 pack: £45.00) with South London neighbours, Orbit Beers, soon to be available from MOMO, Orbit and Selfridges from Friday 8 December.

A limited edition that will launch in time for festive celebrations and Dry January, the collaboration is back for the third year. MOMO X Orbit Beers Hops Kombucha is made with Hallertau Blanc and Nelson Sauvin hops that provide tropical fruit and gooseberry flavours, rounded out with a tart kombucha. Hops have a complex flavour base, mapping citrus tones and herbal, earthy notes, which make them a match for fully fermented tart kombucha like MOMO’s. A non-alcoholic option that beer drinkers can get truly excited about, says the company.

Co-founder of MOMO Kombucha, Josh Puddle, commented, “We could think of no better partner than Orbit Beers, we’ve admired their traditional method of making European beer with a modern twist down the road in South East London for many years. This traditional approach with a flavour focused modern spin felt like a natural fit for the way we brew. This is our third limited edition special, and we are so grateful to have partnered with Orbit. Their beers can regularly be found in our brewery fridge (for when a kombucha can’t quite cut it) and Orbit supply some of our favourite pubs and restaurants in London. Thanks also to our head brewer, Matt Canham, for the creation of this delicious kombucha – it could be our best yet.”

Robert Middleton, founder of Orbit Beers added, “We’ve admired MOMO’s traditional method of brewing kombucha down the road in South London for many years and love working with and sharing recipes and ideas with their team. Our first collaborative batch was brewed in January 2021. It was so well received, winning a Great Taste Award, that we decided to brew it for the third time, in time for Dry January 2024. One of the main reasons we fell in love with kombucha (apart from the delicious taste) is the benefits for our gut microbiome.”

For every bottle sold, MOMO will contribute 10p to Save the Children’s Gaza appeal, supporting children affected by the crisis in the region.

Crosta & Mollica has announced the release of Caffè Torinese, a new Italian ground coffee, marking the modern Italian food brand’s debut into the coffee category. Caffè Torinese is launching exclusively into Waitrose from 15 October 2023; RRP GBP £3.99, 227g.

Coffee culture is currently thriving in the UK, and consumers are increasingly discerning about how they enjoy their caffè moment, with authenticity being key.

The ground coffee is created using a blend of Arabica beans and Robusta beans. The beans are roasted and blended to create a full-bodied coffee with notes of chocolate and toasted bread.

Crosta & Mollica, which simply means ‘crust & crumb’ in Italian, was founded with a desire and dedication to bring well-made Italian food to the UK. Over the past year, the brand has expanded its Italian supermarket range with new launches into the oven-ready meal and bakery categories as it continues to capitalise on the growing UK market for Italian food. Crosta & Mollica is now making a move into the coffee category with Caffè Torinese.

Nepal Tea Collective’s pyramid tea bags offer the full range and layers of flavour and aromas that premium quality, organic loose leaf tea offer, while also providing the brewing convenience and easy clean-up of tea bags. The tea bags themselves are plant-based, made of 100% non GMO sugarcane fiber.

With zero use of plastic in these tea bags, tea drinkers are able to enjoy delicious flavours of tea conveniently, as well as re-steep their tea without worrying about consuming microplastics.

Easy to brew, no hassle whole leaf tea bags

Tea bags are typically packed with tea-bag cut leaves or Brokens and Fannings, which are small pieces of tea and tea dust left-over from the production process of whole leaf tea. Unlike tea-bag cut leaves or broken tea leaves, whole leaf teas need the space to fully unfurl in hot water, and release all the layers of their flavors and aromas. This is why whole leaf teas are typically sold unbagged.

Nepal Tea Collective’s improved pyramid design allows their whole leaf teas to fully unfurl within the tea bag. This is why the experience of aromas released while brewing a cup of tea with Nepal Tea Collective’s tea bags is similar to brewing a pot of loose leaf tea.

An array of flavours

Nepal Tea Collective’s tea bags come in four tea varieties: Himalayan Sunrise Black tea, Himalayan Mist Green Tea, Nepali Breakfast Chai Blend, and Kathmandu Cosmos Decaf Spice Blend, for sale on Nepal Tea Collective website.

These tea bags contain organic, artisanal teas. Only the first two leaves and the terminal bud are hand-plucked with delicate care, and processed by tea artisans of eastern Nepal.

Himalayan Sunrise Black tea:

Flavour notes: Dark Chocolate, Raisins, Cherries

Himalayan Mist:

Flavour notes: Floral, Roasted Nuts, Green Tea

Nepali Breakfast:

Flavour notes: Warm Spices, Cinnamon, Ginger bread

Kathmandu Cosmos Organic Chai Blend:

Flavor notes: Fruity, Citrus, Lemon ZIng

MOMO Kombucha, the New Covent Garden Market -based brewery, is launching its Watermelon Kombucha, in collaboration with Natoora, available from MOMO, Natoora, Planet Organic and Whole Foods (RRP £4.50 per 330ml glass bottle) from 25 July.

MOMO’s unfiltered kombucha is blended with Sentinel Watermelon, resulting in a fruity flavour balanced by the tones of Kombucha. The Sentinel Watermelon is grown by Oscar Zerbinati, in Mantua, Northern Italy, an area renowned for its melon growing; the Zerbinati family is one of the most celebrated growers in the region. The watermelons are grown slowly, reaching up to 18kg, Oscar grows one melon per plant to ensure the plant puts all its energy into the one fruit; he carefully restricts their water intake, forcing them to cling to the nutrients in the mineral rich clay soils, resulting in dense, rich flesh.

The new addition to MOMO’s portfolio is the lightest, most refreshing kombucha the company says it has ever made, and really highlights both the quality of the produce and kombucha as a medium. Zerbinati’s Watermelon makes the kombucha ideal for summer occasions, such as picnics, BBQ’s or hot London tube journeys.

Founder of MOMO Kombucha, Josh Puddle said of the collaboration, “We are so grateful to have partnered with Natoora and to have been able to combine Zerbinati’s expertly grown watermelons with our kombucha. I wasn’t sure the flavour would cut through the kombucha, but it really does and has totally surpassed our expectations – all credit to our head brewer Matt Canham. We’re also happy to be supporting Natoora’s Farm Fund through this partnership, a fantastic organisation supporting young farmers committed to agroecological methods.”

MOMO Kombucha is on a mission to produce the best tasting and highest quality kombucha, which they achieve by using finest ingredients, including a blend of the finest teas and slow pressed juice; brewing in glass jars, in super small batches, and leaving the liquid completely unfiltered to offer the maximum health impact.

Find MOMO X Natoora Watermelon Kombucha at Planet Organic, Whole Foods, Natoora and via the MOMO website.

Brooklyn-based coffee roaster, Partners Coffee, has launched its first packaging update since its rebrand from Toby’s Estate in 2019, featuring cream coloured bags with gold foil printing. First glimpsed with its inaugural summer blend, Block Party, the new packaging is now also available across Partners’ single origin coffees.

All of Partners’ rotating roster of Single Origin coffees are now packaged in the new cream bags. Partners’ Single Origin programme highlights the brand’s farm relationships and sustainable sourcing efforts. Maintaining strong relationships at origin allows Partners to offer blends with a consistent flavour profile year over year, while celebrating the growing and processing efforts of the brand’s producing and importing partners. Rotating Single Origins – featuring farm relationships from Colombia, Burundi, Brazil and more – are some of the brand’s bestsellers, while El Ramo (Partners’ mainstay Single Origin from Colombia) is Partners’ fourth best selling product overall.

The new packaging was first debuted on the company’s seasonal Block Party blend, which includes notes of strawberry, blueberry, and watermelon and can be served hot or cold. To celebrate Pride, Partners is donating USD $1 for every Block Party bag sold during the month of June to The Center, a West Village-based organisation offering a spectrum of programmes for New York City’s LGBTQ+ community.

Block Party is now also available as an Instant Coffee. With notes of orange, cranberry and honey, the instant coffee sachets can be made hot or cold and are ideal on-the-go.

Partners ships nationwide, is available on AmazonSkimlinks + ShareASale, and at one of the brand’s five NYC cafes.

For more than 20 years, Portland, Oregon-based Tea Chai Té, founded by Angela and Dominic Valdes, has created over 120 loose-leaf tea flavours, along with chai and bubble tea.

With the tea market going from strength to strength, Tea Chai Té wants to grow and widen its customer base with a refreshed brand, new tea products and a new name, Portal Tea Company. The rebrand will debut at the Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland, Oregon, 21-23 April, 2023, at Booth #2386.

“After 20 years in business, it was time to evolve our brand with a new name that better reflects our commitment to providing an accessible and authentic tea experience for customers, both in person and virtually,” said Dominic Valdes. “The pandemic inspired us to take a leap with our business and expand beyond our four Oregon brick-and-mortar tea shops. We are excited to create a more extensive online platform that can educate our customers and showcase our wide selection of tea products, including our first line of quality tea sachets and nitro canned iced tea, which will be available by summer 2023.”

New name reflects global focus

Portal Tea Company partnered with Portland-based branding agency, Murmur Creative, for the rebrand and new name.

“Portal Tea’s new name came about during a collaborative process, where we identified a wide variety of potential names aimed at capturing the essence of their brand,” said Angela Espersen, senior brand strategist at Murmur Creative. “Ultimately, it was Portal Tea’s passion for helping people discover one-of-a-kind tea experiences that inspired the final name, which literally means ‘doorway’ or ‘entrance to another world.’ We felt it was a perfect embodiment of their mission to transport customers with every sip.”

The signature teapot logo design has been updated to illustrate the new name and will appear on all product packaging, as well as on signage at each of the four tea shop locations. The rebrand showcases the key values that co-owners Angela and Dominic have always believed, including a focus on sustainability, fostering a sense of community, and offering their customers a great-tasting tea experience.

Portal Tea Company launches new tea products

Starting this April, Portal Tea Company will roll out a host of new, sustainable product lines to complement its portfolio of loose-leaf tea blends, house-made chai and bubble tea. The new products include:

 • Portal Tea Company Tea Sachets with zero-waste packaging available in 11 flavours in 16-count and 50-count boxes;
 • Portal Tea Company Chai Concentrate in two flavours: Coconut Chai, a non-caffeinated, rooibos-based chai blend, and West Coast Chai, a traditional masala chai available in 32-ounce glass bottles and 64-ounce foodservice containers;
 • Portal Tea Company Ready-to-Drink Nitro Canned Iced Tea featuring teas in 16-ounce cans, created to have a refreshing taste and smooth finish.

“We’re excited to branch out into other tea-related beverages and offer customers a wider selection of Portal Tea products,” said Dominic. “We have long-standing relationships with our tea growers around the world and are passionate about creating products made with sustainable ingredients – from the tea to the packaging. We know where all our ingredients are sourced, and we believe in choosing the highest-quality ingredients for our customers and retailers.”
