Hernández’s father, Ricaurte, was the winner of the first ever Colombian Cup of Excellence and ran the farm until, tragically, he was killed by a paramilitary group while defending his farm in 2013. 

Oscar Hernández then left the Navy and returned to the farm, recruited his microbiologist sister and brother in law, and took a scientific approach to coffee which now brings widely admired natural left-of-field tasting notes.

The limited edition set contains 100g sachets of the five coffees that Hernández calls “the DNA of the farm.”

Each set comes with a booklet, detailing the innovative approach to each of the coffees, their tasting notes, and the full story behind the farm, plus a guide on how to taste speciality coffee.

A limited edition that will launch in time for festive celebrations and Dry January, the collaboration is back for the third year. MOMO X Orbit Beers Hops Kombucha is made with Hallertau Blanc and Nelson Sauvin hops that provide tropical fruit and gooseberry flavours, rounded out with a tart kombucha. Hops have a complex flavour base, mapping citrus tones and herbal, earthy notes, which make them a match for fully fermented tart kombucha like MOMO’s. Even among the unique flavours of Nepali black teas, the Rose Label Reserve stands apart. Earning its luxury status with its rich and complex flavours, says the company, this tea also comes with a prestigious history and a unique story of discovery.

The rare Bannockburn-157 cultivar from which this tea was hand-plucked has a prestigious history in Nepal. This special cultivar was gifted to a Nepali king decades ago and carefully reared on tea gardens in Eastern Nepal. However, it was the work of a young tea maker, who was only 19-years-old at the time, Nikesh Gurung’s experimental crafting process that highlighted the complex rose notes in these tea leaves.

For this year’s harvest of the Rose Label Reserve, the Bannockburn-157 cultivar, along with several other Wild Assamica cultivars growing in Eastern Nepal, were sequestered and carefully reared and hand-plucked during the summer months. The dry leaves, black with a red-tint, exude a delicate fragrance once steeped in hot water, brewing into deep-red liquor that is perfect to serve on special occasions.
